The season for butterflies is just beginning here in Eastern Missouri. The thistle is starting to bloom, and the butterflies and bees love it. Even though this is just the beginning (so I am told)of the season, I was able to capture some shots I thought you might enjoy. These photos were all taken in one shoot late last Friday afternoon. There are a number of different butterflies along with a bumblebee. Notice the golden pollen that gathers on their legs as they alight to drink the thistle's nectar. I'll try next time to catch some of these guys while they are in flight. The gallery includes nine photos carefully edited by Linda. Remember to click on one of the photos to see them in full size. Enjoy! |
