We left home on Sunday afternoon to begin this summer’s trek. We’re headed to the northeast to Pennsylvania and New York this year to see family and do a few things that have been on our list including the Chautauqua Institution and the Erie Canal.
We are staying the night on the banks of the Mississippi in West Memphis, Arkansas. I truly mean on the waterfront. The RV Park’s buildings are all on wheels so they can move them to higher ground when the river decides to come over its banks! I have never seen that before, but it sure makes sense.

This little killdeer is nesting right on the gravel of on of the RV spaces. Killdeer tend to actually like gravel. As you can see her nest is really a bit sketchy. If you get too close, she raises a ruckus, but there is no protection around her at all.
Right now we are just moving along, putting on the miles. But it is in our own fashion — no Interstates when possible. We are headed first to Indiana to see the April and Jeremy, and then we’ll wander across to Erie and for some time on the lakefront.
